Tsitouras Bells
Ship’s bells
Every vessel 20 metres or more in length must carry a bell — and from 100 metres, a gong as well. We cast our ship’s bell in bronze, in the same foundry as our church bells.
Code 0030-0014N
Ship’s bell Ø 30 cm
Our ship’s bell is cast in bell bronze (a copper–tin alloy), which resists corrosion at sea and gives a clear sound. Its mouth diameter is 30 cm — the minimum diameter set by the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea (COLREG 1972, Annex III) for vessels 20 metres or more in length.
Vessels 100 metres or more in length need a gong as well as the bell, with a tone that cannot be confused with that of the bell. Ask us about the gong too.
The bell also suits sailing clubs and maritime associations, memorials and any place that calls for a bell with a nautical character.
On request, we engrave the vessel’s name, its port of registry or a dedication. Contact us for availability and other sizes.
