Tsitouras tuned bells
Tuned bells, cast to a note
Every bell has its own voice. When the voices of a bell tower match one another in the major scale, the bells ring in harmony — and can play hymns (troparia).
What “melodic” means
One bell, one note
We call a bell melodic when it sounds a clear, specific note — C, D, E, F, G, A or B. The note depends on the shape, the wall thickness, the diameter and the alloy. That is why we design every bell from the start for the note it must sound.
A single bell on its own rings for Vespers or tolls for a funeral. But when a church has two, three or more bells on the right notes, the sound fills out and the ringing gains a melody.

In the major scale
A bell tower that becomes a musical instrument
The bells of a tuned set are pitched to notes of the major scale. So they sound in harmony in whatever order they ring — and, with an automatic bell-ringing system, they play hymns such as “Christ is Risen” (Christos Anesti).
An example: for a church in Iraq we cast and installed four bells in C, D, E and G — 220, 150, 105 and 65 kg — operated by remote control and Wi-Fi.
Starting with one or two bells and adding more later? We keep the design of the set on file, so that every new bell blends with the earlier ones.
