User guide: Smart Bells GM-3800TSI
Dark wall-mounted box, about 33 × 18 cm, with a large 9-inch colour touch screen. Above the screen it says «Touch Digital Bell» and at the bottom right «mod.3800TS». On the right it has the yellow logo with the small bell, the label «ΤΣΙΤΟΥΡΑΣ 2105550700» (Tsitouras and the phone number) and a USB port. The home screen shows a large clock with digits like flip cards, the orange EVENTS bar, Q-KEY at the top left and MENU at the top right.

Play a melody now (with the remote control)
- Switch on the remote control. Press and hold the button on its right side for about 2 seconds.
- Its touch screen lights up. At the top there is a black bar. Below it are the round keys 0–9, the orange S, the C, the red STOP and the green START button. You press the keys with your finger on the screen.
- In your church’s melody list, find the number of the melody you want.
- Press the digits of that number one by one.
- Press the green START button. This confirms the number, and the command goes to the controller to start the melody.
You need the KIT-3800C remote control. It is optional and is not included in the basic equipment. If you do not press anything for 60 seconds, it switches off by itself. Then switch it on again. It works up to about 1 km, if there are no obstacles in between. If you have Tsitouras-Cloud, you can also play a melody from the app on your phone or tablet. For the touch screen of the controller itself, the leaflet only says that all 1000 melodies play immediately. It does not say which keys to press, so please contact the company.
⚠ Press START only when you are sure of the number, because the bells ring immediately.
Funeral toll now (with the remote control)
- Switch on the remote control. Press and hold the button on its right side for about 2 seconds.
- In your church’s melody list, find the number of the «ΠΕΝΘΙΜΟ» (funeral toll).
- Press the digits of the number one by one on the screen of the remote control.
- Press the green START button. The command goes to the controller and the funeral toll starts.
The funeral toll starts like any melody, with its number. The company’s melody list has several funeral tolls, depending on how many bells the church has. If you do not know which one is yours, or you do not have the list, ask the company. The leaflet does not explain how to start the funeral toll from the controller’s screen. It also does not mention an automatic schedule for the funeral toll.
⚠ Press START only when you are sure of the number.
Remote control: switching on and off
- To switch it on: press and hold the button on the right side of the remote control for about 2 seconds. The touch screen with the keys lights up.
- To switch it off: press and hold the same button, again for about 2 seconds.
- If you do not use it for 60 seconds, it switches off by itself. This is normal. Switch it on again as in step 1.
- If it does not switch on at all, put it on charge (see “Battery and charging”) and try again. If it still does not switch on, contact the company.
The kit includes the TX-3800C remote control, the RX-3800C receiver with power supply and external antenna, and the charger. The receiver and the antenna are part of the installation at the church. For these, contact the company.
Remote control: battery and charging
- Look at the battery icon. It is at the right end of the black bar, at the top of the screen.
- If it is green and full, the battery is full. If it is yellow-orange up to the middle, it is half full. If it is red and low, the battery is low.
- To charge it, connect the charger you were given. It has a USB Type-C plug.
- Look at the small light at the top left of the remote control. When it is red, it is charging. When it turns green, charging is finished.
- If the red light is flashing, the battery is low. Put it on charge.
- It takes about 3 hours to charge fully.
It has a rechargeable lithium battery. When it is full, it works for about 5 hours without a break.
Remote control: the orange S key (services)
- Switch on the remote control. Hold the button on its right side for about 2 seconds.
- Press the orange S key. The remote control switches to services mode.
- Press the number of the service.
- Press the green START button to confirm.
The remote control sends melodies and “services” to the controller. According to the catalogue, besides bells and clock, the controller also handles services. Which services your installation has, and under which number, is known to the technician. Ask the company.
⚠ Use only service numbers that the company has given you.
The remote control does not start the bells
- Check that it is switched on. It switches off by itself when you do not use it for 60 seconds. To switch it on, hold the button on its right side for 2 seconds.
- Check the battery at the top right of the screen. If it is red, or if the red light is flashing, charge it for about 3 hours.
- Check that you pressed the correct melody number and then the green START button.
- Move closer to the church. It works up to about 1 km, and only when there are no obstacles in between.
- If it still does not work, do not touch the receiver or the antenna. Please contact Tsitouras Bros Co. (Monday to Friday, 08:00–16:00 Greek time) on +30 210 555 0700 or by email at info@bells.gr.
Bells from your phone, tablet or computer (Tsitouras-Cloud)
- This works only if your church has the optional Tsitouras-Cloud system. It is not included in the basic equipment. If you do not know whether you have it, ask the company.
- The controller must be connected to the internet with an Ethernet cable. The technician makes this connection.
- On your phone or tablet (Android or iOS) you use the special app.
- From the app you can play a melody and see the day’s bell ringings. You can also switch off the timed schedule.
- From a computer you can manage the whole controller remotely.
The leaflet does not give the name of the app or its buttons. For the app and the login details, contact the company. Through Tsitouras-Cloud the technician can monitor the controller remotely, for help, programming and updates.
Stop the automatic schedule from ringing (switching off the schedule)
- The leaflet describes this feature only from the Tsitouras-Cloud app, on your phone or tablet. Tsitouras-Cloud is optional.
- If you have Tsitouras-Cloud, you can switch off the timed schedule from the app. While it is switched off, the scheduled bell ringings do not ring.
- The leaflet does not describe which buttons to press in the app. It also does not describe how to do it from the controller’s screen. Please contact Tsitouras Bros Co. (Monday to Friday, 08:00–16:00 Greek time) on +30 210 555 0700 or by email at info@bells.gr.
Change, add or delete a bell ringing in the schedule
- The controller’s leaflet does not give steps for changing the schedule yourself from the touch screen.
- Write on a piece of paper what you want: which day, which time and which melody. For the melody, note the name shown under EVENTS, or its number from the melody list.
- Please contact Tsitouras Bros Co. (Monday to Friday, 08:00–16:00 Greek time) on +30 210 555 0700 or by email at info@bells.gr.
- If your controller has Tsitouras-Cloud, the technician can do the programming remotely.
The controller can be programmed to ring by itself on any day and at any time of the year you want. It has a perpetual calendar.
Where do I see the scheduled bell ringings (EVENTS)
- Look at the controller’s home screen, where the large clock is.
- Under the time there is the orange «EVENTS» bar.
- Under the bar are the scheduled bell ringings. First it shows the time and next to it the name of the melody (e.g. «16:30 …»).
- If you have Tsitouras-Cloud, you can also see the day’s bell ringings in the phone app.
The leaflet does not say whether the list shows only today. It also does not say how to see the schedule of other days or of feast days. For these, contact the company.
Summer / winter time
- You do not need to do anything. According to the leaflet, the controller changes to summer and winter time by itself.
- After the clock change, look at the large digits in the middle of the home screen and check that the time is correct.
- If the time did not change correctly, do not change it yourself. Please contact Tsitouras Bros Co. (Monday to Friday, 08:00–16:00 Greek time) on +30 210 555 0700 or by email at info@bells.gr.
Change the time or date
- At the top of the home screen, in orange letters, is the date. In the middle, in large digits, is the time.
- For summer and winter time you do not need to do anything, because the controller changes by itself.
- The controller’s leaflet has no instructions for correcting the time or the date yourself from the touch screen.
- Please contact Tsitouras Bros Co. (Monday to Friday, 08:00–16:00 Greek time) on +30 210 555 0700 or by email at info@bells.gr.
The controller’s clock gains or loses at most 0.1 seconds a day. It has a perpetual calendar that also counts leap years.
The melody list and the melody numbers
- Each melody has its own number. You start it with this number, e.g. from the remote control: you press the number and then START.
- The names of the melodies in the schedule are shown under the EVENTS bar, on the home screen.
- If you do not have the list with the numbers and names for your church, ask the company for it.
The controller has 1000 melodies and memory for 1000 recorded melodies. In the company’s list the numbers change depending on how many bells the church has. That is why you should ask for the list for your own church.
What the home screen shows
- At the top, in orange letters: the day and the date.
- In the middle, in large digits: the time, that is hours, minutes and seconds.
- Further down: the orange «EVENTS» bar, and below it the scheduled bell ringings with their times.
- Top left: the «Q-KEY» key. Top right: the «MENU» key.
- In the bottom bar: small status icons, e.g. padlock, keyboard, speaker, moon, AUX, GPS, DCF, sun, USB, SD and cloud.
- On the box, to the right of the screen: the logo with the company’s phone number, and a USB port.
The leaflet does not explain what the Q-KEY and MENU keys do. It also does not explain what each icon means. The catalogue says that the controller has a simple menu with quick functions for the user and a separate menu for the technician. For anything inside the menus, contact the company.
Technician settings: electromagnetic strikers, motors, tower clock, internet connection
This setting is done by our technician.
⚠ Do not open the box. Do not change cables, electromagnetic strikers, motors or the clock yourself.
Backups and software update (USB / SD card)
This setting is done by our technician.
The controller keeps backups in its memory. It can also save them to a USB stick or an SD card. According to the catalogue, three things are done with USB or SD: a copy of the schedule and the melodies, restoring them, and software updates.
⚠ Do not insert or remove USB sticks or SD cards without instructions from the company.
