User guide

User guide: PUNTO 4

Light grey box (about 22 × 18.5 × 11.5 cm) with a clear lid that lifts up. Inside it has a dark panel with a small two-line screen, and next to the screen it says PUNTO 4. On the right are the light green number keys (together with ←, +, − and ↵) and on the left are F1–F4 and the keys with the palm symbol. The home screen shows the day, the date, the time and the word «ΚΩΔΙΚΟΣ» (code).

Ask the digital assistant

What each key does

  1. F1, F2, F3, F4: start melodies 1, 2, 3, 4 straight away. The small light on the key comes on.
  2. Keys with the palm symbol (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th): ring the matching bell the moment you press them.
  3. sec func: hold it down and press a number from 5 to 8, to play melody 5, 6, 7 or 8.
  4. STOP: stops a melody that is playing. Hold it down for about 1 second.
  5. ESC: cancels what you are doing, if you change your mind, and takes you back.
  6. DEL (the key with the arrow ←): deletes the last number or letter you typed.
  7. ↵ (ENTER, bottom right on the green keys): confirms and goes to the next step. On the screen you see it written as ENTER.
  8. [+]: shows the next option in a menu. [−]: used to change a melody name. In a menu, if you press the number of an option, you go straight to it (e.g. 2 → «2/7)»).

In the manual, ENTER is drawn as an arrow ↵.

Play a melody now (by hand)

  1. For melodies 1, 2, 3 or 4: press F1, F2, F3 or F4. The small light on the key comes on and the melody starts.
  2. For melodies 5, 6, 7 or 8: hold down sec func and, without letting go, press the melody number (e.g. 7).
  3. The screen says «ΔΙΑΡΚ.ΜΕΛΩΔ» (melody duration) and «ΔΙΑΡΚΕΙΑ» (duration), e.g. 00:00,30. This is hours:minutes, seconds, so here it means 30 seconds.
  4. If you want it to play for a different time, type 6 digits straight away: 2 for hours, 2 for minutes, 2 for seconds. Then press ↵ (ENTER).
  5. Example: for 3 minutes and 5 seconds, type 0 0 0 3 0 5 and press ↵.
  6. To stop it, see “Stop a melody”.

The usual duration is set by the technician at installation (usually 30 seconds). What each F1–F4 plays is on the sheet «ΜΕΛΩΔΙΕΣ PUNTO4» (PUNTO4 melodies), if the company filled it in for you, or in the menu «7/7) ΟΝΟΜΑ ΜΕΛΩΔΙΩΝ» (melody names). For one bell only, see “Ring one bell by hand”.

Ring one bell by hand

  1. Find the 4 keys with the palm symbol. There is one for each bell (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th).
  2. Press the key of the bell you want. The bell rings the moment you press it.
  3. To ring it again, press it again.

Which bell is the 1st, the 2nd, etc. depends on the connection the technician made. If you do not know, try the keys one by one. No code is needed for the palm keys (the manual does not mention a code for them).

Stop a melody

  1. To stop it at once: press STOP and hold it down for about 1 second.
  2. To stop it as soon as it finishes its round (not halfway): press the same key you started it with again. If you started it with F3, press F3 again.

If the bell keeps ringing even after STOP, the manual gives no other instruction. Please contact Tsitouras Bros Co. (Monday to Friday, 08:00–16:00 Greek time) on +30 210 555 0700 or by email at info@bells.gr.

Change the time

  1. On the home screen (it shows the day, date, time and «ΚΩΔΙΚΟΣ», code), type the user code (a code is required — contact the company) and press ↵ (ENTER). The screen says «ΚΕΝΤΡΙΚΟ ΜΕΝΟΥ 1/7) ΠΡΟΓΡΑΜΜΑΤΙΣΜΟΙ» (main menu 1/7) schedules).
  2. Press 2. The screen says «2/7) ΡΥΘΜΙΣΗ PUNTO» (PUNTO settings). Press ↵.
  3. You see «ΡΥΘΜΙΣΗ PUNTO» with the date and the time. The small square (cursor) is on the date. If the date is correct, just press ↵.
  4. Now the cursor moves to the time. Type the correct time with 4 digits in 24-hour format, e.g. 1 8 3 0 for 6:30 in the evening. Press ↵.
  5. Press ESC. You go back to the home screen.
  6. Check that the home screen now shows the correct time. If the bell tower clock shows a different time, see “Correct the time on the bell tower clock”.

According to the manual, a wrong time on the screen appears only after a power cut lasting many days. The change to summer/winter time happens by itself. If you have the optional GPS, the time is set automatically.

⚠ The correct time on the controller is essential: all the schedules and the hours strike by it.

Change the date

  1. On the home screen type the user code (a code is required — contact the company) and press ↵ (ENTER). The screen says «ΚΕΝΤΡΙΚΟ ΜΕΝΟΥ 1/7) ΠΡΟΓΡΑΜΜΑΤΙΣΜΟΙ» (main menu 1/7) schedules).
  2. Press 2. The screen says «2/7) ΡΥΘΜΙΣΗ PUNTO» (PUNTO settings). Press ↵.
  3. The cursor (small square) is on the date. Type the correct one: day, month, year, 2 digits each. For 06-10-26 type 0 6 1 0 2 6. Press ↵.
  4. The cursor moves to the time. If the time is correct, just press ↵. If not, type the correct time and press ↵.
  5. Press ESC to go back to the home screen. Check the day and the date.

The home screen also shows the day of the week (e.g. «ΤΕΤ», Wed). The controller has a perpetual calendar, including leap years.

Correct the time on the bell tower clock

  1. First make sure the PUNTO screen shows the correct time. If not, first do “Change the time”.
  2. On the home screen type the user code (a code is required — contact the company) and press ↵ (ENTER).
  3. Press 4. The screen says «4/7) ΡΥΘΜ.ΚΑΜΠΑΝΑΡΙΟ» (bell tower setting). Press ↵.
  4. If you see «ΕΡΓΑΣΙΑ ΣΕ ΕΞΕΛΙΞΗ ΑΝΑΜΕΙΝΑΤΕ» (work in progress, please wait), wait a few seconds until the screen changes.
  5. The screen says «ΕΙΣΑΓΩΓΗ ΩΡΑΣ ΤΟΥ ΚΑΜΠΑΝΑΡΙΟΥ __:__» (enter the bell tower time). Look at the hands of the clock on the bell tower.
  6. Type the time the clock shows, that is the wrong time, with 4 digits (hours and minutes). Press ↵.
  7. Press ESC to go back to the home screen. This way the bell tower clock is brought into line with the time on the screen.

This applies when the bell tower clock is driven by the PUNTO.

⚠ Careful: you type the time the clock hands show, not the correct time. If you are not sure how to type it (e.g. the clock shows 10:15 and it is evening), please contact Tsitouras Bros Co. (Monday to Friday, 08:00–16:00 Greek time) on +30 210 555 0700 or by email at info@bells.gr.

Summer time / winter time

  1. You do not need to do anything. The controller changes to summer time and to winter time by itself.
  2. After the change, look at the home screen and the bell tower clock. They must show the same, correct time.
  3. If the screen shows the wrong time, see “Change the time”. If only the bell tower clock is different, see “Correct the time on the bell tower clock”.

The automatic change is mentioned in the technical specifications. The manual has no setting for it and does not say whether the bell tower clock also changes by itself. So it is a good idea to check it.

Automatic time with GPS (optional)

  1. If the optional GPS system has been fitted for you, the time is set automatically via satellite. You do not need to do anything.
  2. If you do not have GPS and the time is wrong, correct it from the menu (see “Change the time”).

The GPS is optional and is connected by a company technician. To find out whether your church has it, or to add it, please contact Tsitouras Bros Co. (Monday to Friday, 08:00–16:00 Greek time) on +30 210 555 0700 or by email at info@bells.gr.

How to see what is scheduled

The manual says that the PUNTO has a “Check” function for schedules, but it gives no steps for viewing them. The manual advises you to first write all your schedules on paper. Keep this paper next to the controller. To find out what is stored, please contact Tsitouras Bros Co. (Monday to Friday, 08:00–16:00 Greek time) on +30 210 555 0700 or by email at info@bells.gr.

New bell ringing in the weekly schedule

  1. On the home screen type the user code (a code is required — contact the company) and press ↵ (ENTER). At «ΚΕΝΤΡΙΚΟ ΜΕΝΟΥ 1/7) ΠΡΟΓΡΑΜΜΑΤΙΣΜΟΙ» (main menu 1/7) schedules) press ↵.
  2. You see «1/3) ΕΙΣΑΓΩΓΗ» (add). Press ↵. You see «ΕΙΣΑΓΩ ΠΡΟΓΡΑΜΜΑ 1/5) ΕΒΔΟΜΑΔΙΑΙΟ» (add schedule 1/5) weekly). Press ↵.
  3. You see «ΕΙΣΑΓΩ ΕΒΔΟΜΑΔ. 1/2) ΜΕΛΩΔΙΕΣ» (add weekly 1/2) melodies). Press ↵.
  4. The screen says «ΜΕΛΩΔΙΑ: ΕΠΙΛΟΓΗ [1…4]» (melody: choose 1…4). Type the melody number (1 to 4) and press ↵. At the top left, the «Ε» with a number (e.g. «Ε1», «Ε2») is the serial number of the entry.
  5. «ΔΙΑΡΚ.» (duration): type how many seconds it will play (1 to 99, e.g. 6 0 for 1 minute) and press ↵. For a longer time type 0: it will then ask you for a start time and an end time.
  6. «ΩΡΑ ΑΡΧΗΣ» (start time; «ΦΟΡΜΑ ΩΩ:ΛΛ», format HH:MM): type 4 digits, e.g. 0 9 0 5 for 09:05, and press ↵. If you gave duration 0, type the «ΩΡΑ ΤΕΛΟΥΣ» (end time) the same way and press ↵.
  7. «ΗΜΕΡΕΣ» (days): 1 = Monday … 7 = Sunday, 0 = all. You can also type several together, e.g. 1 3 for Monday and Wednesday. Press ↵.
  8. The screen moves by itself to the next entry (e.g. «Ε2»). Press ↵ to add another one or ESC to finish.

Example from the manual: “every Sunday at 09:05 melody 4 for 60 sec.” = 4 ↵, 6 0 ↵, 0 9 0 5 ↵, 7 ↵. The manual advises you to first write on paper all the bell ringings you want and sort them by type of schedule. For one particular date see “Feast days, patronal festival, Easter”; for a period of the year see “Periodic schedule”.

⚠ Only melodies 1–4 can go into an automatic schedule.

Feast days, patronal festival, Easter: bell ringing once on one date

  1. On the home screen type the user code (a code is required — contact the company) and press ↵ (ENTER). At «1/7) ΠΡΟΓΡΑΜΜΑΤΙΣΜΟΙ» (schedules) press ↵.
  2. At «1/3) ΕΙΣΑΓΩΓΗ» (add) press ↵.
  3. At «ΕΙΣΑΓΩ ΠΡΟΓΡΑΜΜΑ» (add schedule) press [+] (or 3) until the screen says «3/5) ΕΞΑΙΡΕΤΙΚΟ» (exceptional). Press ↵. At «ΕΙΣΑΓΩ ΕΞΑΙΡΕΤΙΚ 1/2) ΜΕΛΩΔΙΕΣ» (add exceptional 1/2) melodies) press ↵ again.
  4. «Ξ1 ΜΕΛΩΔΙΑ» (entry 1, melody): type the melody number (1–4) and press ↵.
  5. «ΔΙΑΡΚ.» (duration): type seconds (1–99) and press ↵. If you want it to play from one time to another, type 0 and press ↵.
  6. «ΩΡΑ ΑΡΧΗΣ» (start time): e.g. 0 9 3 0 and ↵. If you gave 0, also type the «ΩΡΑ ΤΕΛΟΥΣ» (end time), e.g. 1 8 3 0, and press ↵.
  7. «ΗΜΕΡ» (date; «ΦΟΡΜΑ ΗΗ-ΜΜ-ΕΕ», format DD-MM-YY): type day, month, year, e.g. 2 5 1 2 2 6 for 25-12-26, and press ↵.
  8. The screen moves by itself to the next entry (No 2). Press ↵ to add another one or ESC to finish.

The «ΕΞΑΙΡΕΤΙΚΟ» (exceptional) schedule plays only once, on the date you gave. Because the date includes the year, for feasts that change date (e.g. Easter) you set the new date every year. For something that happens every year in a set period, see “Periodic schedule”.

⚠ Only melodies 1–4 can go into a schedule.

Periodic schedule (every year in a set period)

  1. On the home screen type the user code (a code is required — contact the company) and press ↵ (ENTER). At «1/7) ΠΡΟΓΡΑΜΜΑΤΙΣΜΟΙ» (schedules) press ↵.
  2. At «1/3) ΕΙΣΑΓΩΓΗ» (add) press ↵. At «ΕΙΣΑΓΩ ΠΡΟΓΡΑΜΜΑ» (add schedule) press [+] (or 2) until you see «2/5) ΠΕΡΙΟΔΙΚΟ» (periodic) and press ↵. At «1/2) ΜΕΛΩΔΙΕΣ» (melodies) press ↵ again.
  3. «Π1 ΜΕΛΩΔΙΑ» (entry 1, melody): type the melody number (1–4) and press ↵.
  4. «ΔΙΑΡΚ.» (duration): type seconds (1–99) and press ↵. Or type 0 to give a start time and an end time.
  5. «ΩΡΑ ΑΡΧΗΣ» (start time): e.g. 0 6 0 0 and ↵. If you gave duration 0, it will also ask for «ΩΡΑ ΤΕΛΟΥΣ» (end time): type it the same way and ↵.
  6. «ΗΜΕΡ.ΑΡΧ.» (start date; «ΦΟΡΜΑ ΗΗ-ΜΜ», format DD-MM): e.g. 1 5 0 5 for 15 May and ↵. Then «ΗΜΕΡ.ΤΕΛ.» (end date): e.g. 1 5 0 7 for 15 July and ↵.
  7. «ΗΜΕΡΕΣ» (days): e.g. 1 3 5 for Monday, Wednesday, Friday, or 0 for all. Press ↵.
  8. The screen moves by itself to «Π2». Press ↵ to add another one or ESC to finish.

The periodic schedule applies every year for the period you gave, on the days of the week you chose.

⚠ Only melodies 1–4 can go into a schedule.

Repeating schedule (every few days)

  1. On the home screen type the user code (a code is required — contact the company) and press ↵ (ENTER). At «1/7) ΠΡΟΓΡΑΜΜΑΤΙΣΜΟΙ» (schedules) press ↵.
  2. At «1/3) ΕΙΣΑΓΩΓΗ» (add) press ↵. At «ΕΙΣΑΓΩ ΠΡΟΓΡΑΜΜΑ» (add schedule) press [+] (or 4) until you see «4/5) ΕΠΑΝΑΛ/ΜΕΝΟ» (repeating) and press ↵. At «ΕΙΣΑΓΩ ΕΠΑΝΑΛ. 1/2) ΜΕΛΩΔΙΕΣ» (add repeating 1/2) melodies) press ↵ again.
  3. «Κ1 ΜΕΛΩΔΙΑ» (entry 1, melody): type the melody number (1–4) and press ↵.
  4. «ΔΙΑΡΚ.» (duration): type seconds (1–99) and press ↵. Or type 0 for a start time and an end time.
  5. «ΩΡΑ ΑΡΧΗΣ» (start time): e.g. 2 0 0 0 for 20:00 and ↵. If you gave duration 0, also type the «ΩΡΑ ΤΕΛΟΥΣ» (end time) and ↵.
  6. «ΗΜ.ΑΡΧ» (start date; «ΦΟΡΜΑ ΗΗ-ΜΜ-ΕΕ», format DD-MM-YY): the first day it will ring, e.g. 0 1 1 1 2 6 for 01-11-26. Press ↵.
  7. «ΒΗΜΑ ΣΕ ΗΜΕΡΕΣ [2..99]» (step in days): the manual explains “2 = the next day, 3 = the day after next”. In its example, for “every other day” it types 3. Press ↵.
  8. The screen moves by itself to «Κ2». Press ↵ to add another one or ESC to finish.

⚠ The numbering of the step («ΒΗΜΑ») is not completely clear in the manual. If you are not sure, please contact Tsitouras Bros Co. (Monday to Friday, 08:00–16:00 Greek time) on +30 210 555 0700 or by email at info@bells.gr. Only melodies 1–4 can go into a schedule.

Delete a bell ringing from the schedule

  1. On the home screen type the user code (a code is required — contact the company) and press ↵ (ENTER). At «ΚΕΝΤΡΙΚΟ ΜΕΝΟΥ 1/7) ΠΡΟΓΡΑΜΜΑΤΙΣΜΟΙ» (main menu 1/7) schedules) press ↵.
  2. Press 3. The screen says «3/3) ΣΒΥΣΙΜΟ» (delete). Press ↵.
  3. You see «ΣΒΥΝΩ ΠΡΟΓΡΑΜΜΑ 1/5) ΕΒΔΟΜΑΔΙΑΙΟ» (delete schedule 1/5) weekly). If the bell ringing is in another type of schedule, press [+] until you see it. Press ↵.
  4. The screen shows an entry (e.g. «Ε1» with its time and «ΗΜΕΡΕΣ», days). Check that it is the one you want to delete. Press ↵ to go through its details.
  5. When you see «ΔΙΑΓΡΑΦΗ:[1=ΝΑΙ]» (delete: 1 = yes), press 1 and then ↵. The entry is deleted. If you do not want it deleted, press ESC.
  6. Press ESC to leave.

In the manual, the deleting example is about the hour striker («ΚΤ.ΩΡ.») in the weekly schedule. To stop a bell ringing for a period only, without deleting it, see “Pause a bell ringing for a period («ΔΙΑΚΟΠΗ»)”.

⚠ Deleting cannot be undone: if you delete something by mistake, you must set it again. The manual does not show how to move to another entry («Ε2», «Ε3»…). If the screen does not show the one you are looking for, do not press 1. Press ESC and contact Tsitouras Bros Co. (Monday to Friday, 08:00–16:00 Greek time) on +30 210 555 0700 or by email at info@bells.gr.

Pause a bell ringing for a period («ΔΙΑΚΟΠΗ», interruption)

  1. On the home screen type the user code (a code is required — contact the company) and press ↵ (ENTER). At «1/7) ΠΡΟΓΡΑΜΜΑΤΙΣΜΟΙ» (schedules) press ↵.
  2. At «1/3) ΕΙΣΑΓΩΓΗ» (add) press ↵. At «ΕΙΣΑΓΩ ΠΡΟΓΡΑΜΜΑ» (add schedule) press [+] until the screen says «ΔΙΑΚΟΠΗ» (interruption) and press ↵. At «1/2) ΜΕΛΩΔΙΕΣ» (melodies) press ↵ again.
  3. «Δ1 ΜΕΛΩΔΙΑ» (entry 1, melody): type the melody of the bell ringing you do not want to play (e.g. 1) and press ↵.
  4. «ΔΙΑΡΚ.» (duration): type seconds (1–99) and press ↵.
  5. «ΩΡΑ ΑΡΧΗΣ» (start time): the time of that bell ringing, e.g. 1 8 3 0. Press ↵.
  6. «ΗΜΕΡ.ΑΡΧ.» and «ΗΜΕΡ.ΤΕΛ.» (start and end date; «ΦΟΡΜΑ ΗΗ-ΜΜ», format DD-MM): the start and end of the pause, e.g. 0 1 0 8 ↵ and 3 1 0 8 ↵ for 1 to 31 August.
  7. «ΗΜΕΡΕΣ» (days): which days of the week within the period: 1 = Monday … 7 = Sunday, 0 = all. Press ↵.
  8. The screen moves by itself to «Δ2». Press ESC to finish or ↵ to add another «ΔΙΑΚΟΠΗ».

«ΔΙΑΚΟΠΗ» sets a period in which an action is not carried out. In the manual’s example, melody 1 plays every day at 18:30, and the «ΔΙΑΚΟΠΗ» is given with melody 1, time 18:30, from 01-08 to 31-08 and «ΗΜΕΡΕΣ» (days) 7 (Sunday).

⚠ The text of the example in the manual is cut off and does not explain whether the duration must be the same as that of the bell ringing. If you are not sure exactly what will stop, please contact Tsitouras Bros Co. (Monday to Friday, 08:00–16:00 Greek time) on +30 210 555 0700 or by email at info@bells.gr.

Change the melody of a scheduled bell ringing

  1. Delete the old bell ringing (see “Delete a bell ringing from the schedule”).
  2. Add a new one with the same time and the same days, but with the number of the new melody (see “New bell ringing in the weekly schedule”).
  3. Press ESC to finish.

The manual does not show a way to correct an entry that already exists. For the hour striker it says clearly: first we delete the old one and then we add a new one. We follow the same method. If you want to change the rhythm itself in a memory (everywhere it plays), see “Record (change) a melody in the memory”.

⚠ Only melodies 1–4 can go into the schedule.

Record (change) a melody in the memory

  1. On the home screen type the user code (a code is required — contact the company) and press ↵ (ENTER).
  2. Press 6. The screen says «6/7) ΜΕΛΩΔ.ΣΤΗ ΜΝΗΜΗ» (melody to memory). Press ↵.
  3. The screen says «ΚΑΤΑΧΩΡ. Η ΜΕΛΩΔΙΑ No:» (store melody no.). Type the memory number (1 to 8). Get ready: as soon as you press ↵, recording starts. Press ↵.
  4. The screen says «ΕΛΕΥΘ.:» (free) and «ENTER ΓΙΑ ΤΕΛΟΣ» (ENTER to finish), and the time counts at the top right. Now play the melody with the palm keys.
  5. When you have finished, press ↵.
  6. The screen asks «ΣΤΗ ΜΝΗΜΗ [1=ΝΑΙ]:» (save to memory? 1 = yes). To save it, press 1. If you do not want it saved, do not press 1. Then press ↵.
  7. Press ESC to go back to the home screen. Try the melody: F1–F4 for 1–4, or sec func + number for 5–8.

The controller has 8 memories. Only 1–4 can go into an automatic schedule and play with F1–F4. 5–8 play by hand (sec func + number). You can record any rhythm you like, joyful or funeral. The melody name is changed separately (see “Change the name of a melody”).

⚠ Be careful which number you record into. The manual does not say what happens to the melody that was already in that number. If you do not want to lose it, please first contact Tsitouras Bros Co. (Monday to Friday, 08:00–16:00 Greek time) on +30 210 555 0700 or by email at info@bells.gr.

Which melodies I have and on which key

  1. If you have the sheet «ΜΕΛΩΔΙΕΣ PUNTO4» (PUNTO4 melodies) that the company gives, it says there what F1, F2, F3 and F4 play.
  2. To see the names on the controller: on the home screen type the user code (a code is required — contact the company) and press ↵ (ENTER).
  3. Press 7. The screen says «7/7) ΟΝΟΜΑ ΜΕΛΩΔΙΩΝ» (melody names). Press ↵.
  4. You see the name of the 1st melody (e.g. «1-ESPERINOS3»). Press [+] to see the next one, up to the 8th.
  5. To leave, press ESC. Do not press ↵ on this screen: ↵ opens the name change.

Memories 1–4 = keys F1–F4, and only these can go into a schedule. Memories 5–8 = sec func + number (by hand only).

Change the name of a melody

  1. On the home screen type the user code (a code is required — contact the company) and press ↵ (ENTER). Press 7 («7/7) ΟΝΟΜΑ ΜΕΛΩΔΙΩΝ», melody names) and ↵.
  2. With [+] go to the melody you want.
  3. Press ↵ (at the bottom it says «ENTER=ΑΛΛΑΓΗ», ENTER = change). A small box flashes on the first letter.
  4. With [+] the letter moves forward in the alphabet and with [−] backwards. With the number keys you type a number.
  5. Press ↵ to go to the next position and carry on with the changes.
  6. If you want to leave without keeping the changes, press ESC.

The name is written in Latin letters (e.g. ESPERINOS3, TALANTO 4).

⚠ The manual does not say clearly how the new name is saved. If after the change you do not see the new name, please contact Tsitouras Bros Co. (Monday to Friday, 08:00–16:00 Greek time) on +30 210 555 0700 or by email at info@bells.gr.

Funeral toll

  1. Find which memory the funeral toll is recorded in: on the sheet «ΜΕΛΩΔΙΕΣ PUNTO4» (PUNTO4 melodies) or in the menu «7/7) ΟΝΟΜΑ ΜΕΛΩΔΙΩΝ» (melody names) (see “Which melodies I have and on which key”).
  2. If it is in memory 1–4, press the matching F1–F4.
  3. If it is in memory 5–8, hold down sec func and press the number (5, 6, 7 or 8).
  4. For a different duration, type 6 digits straight away (hours, minutes, seconds) and press ↵ (ENTER). E.g. 0 0 0 3 0 0 for 3 minutes.
  5. To stop it: hold down STOP for about 1 second.
  6. If there is no funeral toll in the memory, you can ring it with the palm keys or record it in a memory (see “Record (change) a melody in the memory”).

The controller records any rhythm you like, joyful or funeral. Which memory holds the funeral toll differs from church to church.

Hourly strikes: delete the old timetable

Press ↵.
  4. The screen shows the schedule of the hours, e.g. «Ε1 ΚΤ.ΩΡ. 00:00» and «ΗΜΕΡΕΣ: 1234567» (days). «ΚΤ.ΩΡ.» means hour striker. Press ↵.
  5. You see «ΩΡΑ ΤΕΛΟΣ» (end time). Press ↵.
  6. You see «ΔΙΑΓΡΑΦΗ:[1=ΝΑΙ]» (delete: 1 = yes). Press 1 and then ↵. The old timetable is deleted.
  7. Press ESC. Now set the new timetable (see “Hourly strikes: new timetable and night silence”).

⚠ Until you set a new timetable, the hours will not strike. If at step 4 the screen does not say «ΚΤ.ΩΡ.», do not press 1: it is a different entry. Press ESC and contact Tsitouras Bros Co. (Monday to Friday, 08:00–16:00 Greek time) on +30 210 555 0700 or by email at info@bells.gr.

Hourly strikes: new timetable and night silence

  1. First delete the old timetable (see “Hourly strikes: delete the old timetable”).
  2. If the screen has gone back to the home screen, type the user code (a code is required — contact the company) and ↵ (ENTER). At «1/7) ΠΡΟΓΡΑΜΜΑΤΙΣΜΟΙ» (schedules) press ↵.
  3. At «1/3) ΕΙΣΑΓΩΓΗ» (add) press ↵. At «ΕΙΣΑΓΩ ΠΡΟΓΡΑΜΜΑ 1/5) ΕΒΔΟΜΑΔΙΑΙΟ» (add schedule 1/5) weekly) press ↵.
  4. At «ΕΙΣΑΓΩ ΕΒΔΟΜΑΔ. 1/2) ΜΕΛΩΔΙΕΣ» (add weekly 1/2) melodies) press 2 (or [+]). The screen says «2/2) ΚΤΥΠΗΤΗ ΩΡΩΝ» (hour striker). Press ↵.
  5. «ΔΙΑΡΚ.» (duration): type 0 and press ↵.
  6. «ΩΡΑ ΑΡΧΗΣ» (start time): set it one minute before the first hour you want it to strike, so that this hour is included. E.g. 0 6 2 9 to strike from 06:30. Press ↵.
  7. «ΩΡΑ ΤΕΛΟΣ» (end time): e.g. 1 4 0 0 to stop at 14:00. Press ↵.
  8. For a second timetable on the same day (e.g. afternoon 16:59 to 23:00), do steps 2 to 7 again. At the end press ESC.

In the hours that no timetable covers (e.g. at night), the hours do not strike. This is how night silence works. Example from the manual: morning 06:29–14:00 and afternoon 16:59–23:00.

⚠ The page of the manual with the rest (after «ΩΡΑ ΤΕΛΟΣ») is missing from our file. If the screen asks you for something not described here (e.g. «ΗΜΕΡΕΣ», days), please contact Tsitouras Bros Co. (Monday to Friday, 08:00–16:00 Greek time) on +30 210 555 0700 or by email at info@bells.gr.

User code: how to get into the menu

  1. When the home screen shows «ΚΩΔΙΚΟΣ» (code) and dots, programming is locked with an electronic code.
  2. To get into the «ΚΕΝΤΡΙΚΟ ΜΕΝΟΥ» (main menu), type the user code (a code is required — contact the company) and press ↵ (ENTER). The screen says «ΚΕΝΤΡΙΚΟ ΜΕΝΟΥ 1/7) ΠΡΟΓΡΑΜΜΑΤΙΣΜΟΙ» (main menu 1/7) schedules).
  3. When you have finished, press ESC to go back to the home screen.

If you typed a wrong digit, DEL (arrow ←) deletes the last one. For the code, or if you have forgotten it, please contact Tsitouras Bros Co. (Monday to Friday, 08:00–16:00 Greek time) on +30 210 555 0700 or by email at info@bells.gr.

Power cut

  1. During power cuts you do not need to do anything straight away. The melodies and the schedules are not lost: they are kept for up to 10 years without power.
  2. When the power comes back, look at the home screen: does it show the correct day, date and time?
  3. If they are wrong (according to the manual this happens only after a cut of many days), correct them. See “Change the time” and “Change the date”.
  4. Also look at the bell tower clock. If it shows a different time from the screen, see “Correct the time on the bell tower clock”.

The technical specifications state “operation retained for 30 days” without power. They do not say whether the bells ring while there is no power.

Remote control (optional)

  1. If your church has the optional remote control, it has buttons for 3 melodies and 1 stop button.
  2. Press the button of a melody to start it. Press stop to stop it.
  3. It works from a distance of up to about 300 metres.

⚠ The documents do not say which button plays which melody. Please contact Tsitouras Bros Co. (Monday to Friday, 08:00–16:00 Greek time) on +30 210 555 0700 or by email at info@bells.gr.

Connection to a mobile phone over Wi‑Fi (optional)

This setting is done by our technician.

There is an optional Wi‑Fi system for an Android or iOS mobile phone, which starts up to 3 melodies and has 1 stop. The company does the installation, and the documents have no user instructions. Please contact Tsitouras Bros Co. (Monday to Friday, 08:00–16:00 Greek time) on +30 210 555 0700 or by email at info@bells.gr.

Strike volume

This setting is done by our technician.

The PUNTO has no speakers: it drives electric hammers that strike the real bells. The documents do not describe a volume setting. For a softer or louder strike, please contact Tsitouras Bros Co. (Monday to Friday, 08:00–16:00 Greek time) on +30 210 555 0700 or by email at info@bells.gr.

Restart / reset

This setting is done by our technician.

The documents do not describe a restart for the user. If you went into the wrong menu, try ESC first (see “I typed something wrong or went into the wrong menu”). A reset is done only by a technician and erases all the melodies and all the schedules. Please contact Tsitouras Bros Co. (Monday to Friday, 08:00–16:00 Greek time) on +30 210 555 0700 or by email at info@bells.gr.

Something is wrong: quick checks

  1. Try F1 or a palm key. If no bell rings or the screen is dark, go straight to the last step.
  2. Look at the home screen. If the date or the time is wrong (this happens after a power cut of several days), see “Change the time” and “Change the date”.
  3. If the bell tower clock shows a different time from the screen, see “Correct the time on the bell tower clock”.
  4. If a scheduled melody did not play: only melodies 1–4 play automatically. Also check whether a «ΔΙΑΚΟΠΗ» (interruption) has been set for this period.
  5. If the hours do not strike at certain times, they are probably outside the timetable (e.g. night silence). See “Hourly strikes: new timetable and night silence”.
  6. If the screen says «ΕΡΓΑΣΙΑ ΣΕ ΕΞΕΛΙΞΗ ΑΝΑΜΕΙΝΑΤΕ» (work in progress, please wait), wait a few seconds.
  7. If you went into the wrong menu or typed something wrong, press ESC (cancels) or DEL (deletes the last number).
  8. If none of this helps: please contact Tsitouras Bros Co. (Monday to Friday, 08:00–16:00 Greek time) on +30 210 555 0700 or by email at info@bells.gr.

⚠ Do not open the controller and do not touch wires or the fuse. Only a technician does this.

Maintenance of the electric hammers (oiling)

  1. Every 3 or 4 months, oil the plungers of the electric hammers with machine oil.

⚠ The electric hammers are up in the bell tower, next to the bells. If access is not safe or you are not sure, ask the company to do it.

Installation settings (technician only)

This setting is done by our technician.

Wiring, the fuse, bell channels, setting of the clock mechanism, town clocks, the radio time receiver/GPS and memory initialisation are done only by a company technician. Initialisation erases all the melodies and all the schedules. Please contact Tsitouras Bros Co. (Monday to Friday, 08:00–16:00 Greek time) on +30 210 555 0700 or by email at info@bells.gr.
