User guide
User guide: SIRIO12
Beige metal desktop box (33 × 24 cm) with a green front panel that says «sirio 12». It has a lit green screen with four orange keys L1–L4 next to it, a number keypad 0–9 with + and −, the keys ←, ESC, ↵, STOP, «sec. func.» and HELP, a row F1–F8 with G1 and G2, and below them eight keys with a palm (hand) symbol together with A1 and A2. The home screen shows the day, the date, the time and «ΚΩΔ: ....» (code).
What each key does
- L1–L4 (the orange keys next to the screen): they choose the option on the same line of the screen. When an arrow (--->) shows on the 4th line, L4 shows the next screen.
- ↵ (ENTER): confirms what you typed or chose.
- ESC: cancels what you are doing halfway and takes you back, as far as the home screen.
- ← : deletes one digit at a time, if you typed something wrong.
- F1–F8: each one plays its own melody straight away. The small light under the key comes on.
- Keys with the palm symbol: they ring the bell the moment you press them. The small light above them comes on briefly.
- STOP: if you hold it down for 2–3 seconds, it stops whatever is ringing.
- A1: cancels the scheduled bell ringing. A2: switches off the striking of the hours. With both, a red light comes on; press again to switch them back on.
On the screens that ask for a melody number, HELP shows the list of melodies. G1, G2 and «sec. func.» are not explained in the user instructions; do not press them, and ask the company if you need them.
Play a melody now with the keys F1–F8
- See which melody each key F1–F8 has: it is written on the page «ΜΕΛΩΔΙΕΣ SIRIO12» (SIRIO12 melodies) at the end of the instruction booklet, or on the sheet the company gave you.
- The screen must show the home screen: day, date, time and «ΚΩΔ: ....» (code). If it does not, press ESC a few times.
- Press the F key of the melody you want once (e.g. F1).
- The small light under the key comes on and the bells start. The screen shows «ΧΡΟΝΟΜΕΤΡΟ» (how long it has been playing) and «ΔΙΑΡΚΕΙΑ» (how long it will play).
- The melody stops by itself when its duration is over.
- To stop it earlier, hold down STOP and count to three.
No code is needed for F1–F8. Each church has its own melodies on the keys. For a melody that is not on a key, see “Play any melody by its number”. To make it play longer or shorter this time only, see “Change how long a melody plays, just this once”.
Play any melody by its number («ΑΜΕΣΗ ΕΚΤΕΛΕΣΗ», immediate playback)
- On the home screen, where it says «ΚΩΔ:» (code), type the user code (a code is required — contact the company) and press ↵ (ENTER). You will see «ΕΙΣΑΓΩΓΗ.ΤΥΠΟΥ ΗΜ. ΕΞΕΡ / ΠΡΟΓΡΑΜΜΑΤΙΣΜΟΣ / ΑΜΕΣΗ ΕΚΤΕΛΕΣΗ» (enter special day type / programming / immediate playback).
- Press L3 («ΑΜΕΣΗ ΕΚΤΕΛΕΣΗ»). You will see «ΠΕΝΘΙΜΟ / ΕΙΔ.ΜΕΛΩΔ / ΜΕΛΩΔΙΕΣ» (funeral toll / special melody / melodies).
- Press L3 («ΜΕΛΩΔΙΕΣ»). The screen says «ΜΕΛΩΔΙΕΣ» and waits for a number.
- Type the number of the melody from the list and press ↵ (ENTER).
- If you do not know the number, press HELP: the list appears, four melodies at a time. Scroll with + and −, press the L1–L4 of the line you want and then ↵ (ENTER).
- On the line «ΧΡΟΝΙΣΤΗΣ» (timer), type how long it will play, in hours:minutes, seconds (e.g. 00:02,00 for 2 minutes), and press ↵ (ENTER).
- «ΕΚΤΕΛΕΣΗ» (play) appears next to L4. Press L4 and the bells start.
- Press ESC once to go back to the home screen.
To stop it earlier, hold down STOP for 2–3 seconds. You will find the numbers in “Where to find the melody list”. «ΠΕΝΘΙΜΟ» and «ΕΙΔ.ΜΕΛΩΔ» on the same screen are not explained in the instructions; use «ΜΕΛΩΔΙΕΣ».
⚠ If you press the wrong key, press ESC to go back.
Change how long a melody plays, just this once
- Press the F key of the melody (F1–F8). The bells start.
- While it plays, the screen shows «ΧΡΟΝΟΜΕΤΡΟ» (time played) and «ΔΙΑΡΚΕΙΑ» (duration).
- Without stopping the melody, type the new duration with the number keys in hours:minutes:seconds (e.g. 00:10:00 for 10 minutes).
- Press ↵ (ENTER). The melody will play with the new duration.
The change applies this time only and is not saved. Next time the key plays with its usual duration. For a permanent change, see “Change the melody or duration on a key F1–F8”.
Stop the bells that are ringing
- Hold down the STOP key and count slowly to three (at least 2 seconds).
- Let go. Whatever is ringing at that moment stops.
- If you have a remote control, you can also stop with its STOP button.
- If you do not want the next scheduled bell ringing to ring either, see “Cancel the scheduled bell ringing with A1”.
⚠ A quick press is not enough. STOP must stay pressed for 2–3 seconds.
Ring a bell by hand (the keys with the palm symbol)
- In the bottom row there are eight keys with a palm symbol. Each key rings one bell.
- Press the key. The bell rings the moment you press it, and the small light above the key comes on briefly.
- Press again for each strike. This way you ring the bells by hand, as you wish.
Which key rings which bell is set at installation; if you do not have it written down, ask the company. While a bell is moving (swinging), the controller blocks its hammer by itself, so its key may not ring at that time. These keys are also used to record your own melody.
Funeral toll
- Check on the sheet «ΜΕΛΩΔΙΕΣ SIRIO12» (SIRIO12 melodies) whether an F key says «ΠΕΝΘΙΜΟ» (funeral toll) (in some churches it is F8, in others F7). If it does, press it: its light comes on and the funeral toll starts.
- If it is not on a key: on the home screen type the user code (a code is required — contact the company) and press ↵ (ENTER).
- Press L3 («ΑΜΕΣΗ ΕΚΤΕΛΕΣΗ», immediate playback) and then L3 again («ΜΕΛΩΔΙΕΣ», melodies).
- Type the number of the funeral toll and press ↵ (ENTER). In the basic list, the funeral tolls are numbers 1–12 and 84. Choose a funeral toll that does not need more bells than your church has.
- At «ΧΡΟΝΙΣΤΗΣ» (timer), type how long it will ring (hours:minutes, seconds) and press ↵ (ENTER). Then press L4 («ΕΚΤΕΛΕΣΗ», play) and ESC once.
- To stop it, hold down STOP for 2–3 seconds.
- For a funeral toll on a set day and time (the time of the funeral), make a one-day schedule: see “Bell ringing for one day only”.
In some churches the list has been changed (e.g. positions 1–11 hold hymns of the church), so your own list applies. In some churches the funeral toll key has been set to play for a long time (a company sheet says «10 ΩΡΕΣ», 10 hours). It stops with STOP or when its time is over.
Change the time on the controller
- On the home screen, where it says «ΚΩΔ:» (code), type the user code (a code is required — contact the company) and press ↵ (ENTER).
- Press L4 (→). You will see «ΠΑΥΣΗ ΕΚΤ. ΜΕΛΩΔΙΩΝ / ΠΑΥΣΗ ΜΕΛ. + ΚΤΥΠ. ΩΡ / ΕΓΓΡΑΦΗ ΕΙΔ. ΜΕΛΩΔΙΑΣ» (pause melodies / pause melodies + hour strikes / record special melody).
- Press L4 (→) again. You will see «ΡΥΘΜ.ΩΡΑΣ ΔΕΥΤ. ΡΟΛΟΓ / ΡΥΘΜ.ΩΡΑΣ ΚΑΜΠΑΝΑΡΙΟ / ΡΥΘΜ.ΩΡΑΣ / ΗΜ SIRIO 12» (set time of secondary clocks / set time of bell tower / set time / date of SIRIO 12).
- Press L3 («ΡΥΘΜ.ΩΡΑΣ / ΗΜ SIRIO 12»). The screen says «ΔΙΟΡΘΩΣΗ ΡΟΛΟΓΙΟΥ» (clock correction) with the date and time.
- First it asks for the date: type today’s date as day-month-year, two digits each (e.g. 06-10-26), and press ↵ (ENTER).
- Then it asks for the time: type the current time as hours:minutes (e.g. 14:30 for 2:30 in the afternoon) and press ↵ (ENTER).
- Press ESC once. On the home screen, check that the day, the date and the time are correct.
If after the change the hands of the outside clock do not show the right time, see “Correct the time on the bell tower clock”. The controller changes to summer/winter time by itself.
⚠ On this screen press only L3. L2 («ΡΥΘΜ.ΩΡΑΣ ΚΑΜΠΑΝΑΡΙΟ», bell tower time) stops the outside clock, and L1 is for secondary clocks.
Change the date
- On the home screen, at «ΚΩΔ:» (code), type the user code (a code is required — contact the company) and press ↵ (ENTER).
- Press L4 (→) twice, until you see «ΡΥΘΜ.ΩΡΑΣ / ΗΜ SIRIO 12» (set time / date of SIRIO 12) next to L3.
- Press L3. The screen says «ΔΙΟΡΘΩΣΗ ΡΟΛΟΓΙΟΥ» (clock correction).
- Type the date as day-month-year, two digits each (e.g. 06-10-26), and press ↵ (ENTER).
- The controller then asks for the time: type the current time (e.g. 09:15) and press ↵ (ENTER).
- Press ESC once. The home screen must show the correct date and the correct day of the week.
The controller works out the day of the week (e.g. «ΤΡΙΤΗ», Tuesday) by itself from the date, because it has a perpetual calendar; you do not type it.
Correct the time on the bell tower clock (the hands)
- First check that the time on the SIRIO12 screen is correct. If it is not, first do “Change the time”.
- On the home screen, at «ΚΩΔ:» (code), type the user code (a code is required — contact the company) and press ↵ (ENTER).
- Press L4 (→) twice, until you see «ΡΥΘΜ.ΩΡΑΣ ΚΑΜΠΑΝΑΡΙΟ» (set bell tower time) next to L2.
- Press L2. From this moment the outside clock stops. The screen says «ΕΙΣΑΓΩΓΗ ΤΗΣ ΩΡΑΣ ΤΡΕΧΟΥΣΑ ΑΠΟ ΚΑΜΠΑΝΑΡ.» (enter the time now on the bell tower).
- Look at the hands of the outside clock (they have stopped) and type the time they SHOW, as hours:minutes, not the correct time.
- Press ↵ (ENTER) and then ESC once.
- The bell tower clock will move to the correct time by itself. Check it after a while.
If you are not sure how to type the time of the hands (e.g. 03:20 or 15:20), contact the company before you do it.
⚠ ALWAYS type the time the outside clock shows and NOT the current time; otherwise the clock will stay wrong.
Summer time / winter time
- You do not need to do anything. The SIRIO12 changes the time by itself: on the last Sunday of March to summer time and on the last Sunday of October to winter time.
- After the change, check that the home screen shows the correct time.
- If the time is wrong, correct it with “Change the time”.
- If the hands of the bell tower clock did not change correctly, see “Correct the time on the bell tower clock”.
Automatic time with GPS (optional)
This setting is done by our technician.
If the church asked for it, the SIRIO12 may have a GPS system (or a radio time receiver) that sets the time automatically. The company connects it; the user instructions do not describe anything the user does. If the time is wrong, you can correct it with “Change the time”. To have the GPS checked, contact the company.
See what is scheduled
- On the home screen, at «ΚΩΔ:» (code), type the user code (a code is required — contact the company) and press ↵ (ENTER).
- Press L2 («ΠΡΟΓΡΑΜΜΑΤΙΣΜΟΣ», programming). You will see «ΕΙΣΑΓΩΓΩ ΠΡΟΓΡΑΜΜΑ / ΕΞΕΤ/ΔΙΑΓΡ.ΠΡΟΓΡΑΜΜΑ.
- Choose the type: L1 for weekly, L2 for periodic, L3 for exceptional (one day).
- The screen shows one schedule: what plays (e.g. «ΚΤΥΠΗΤΗΣ ΩΡΩΝ», hour striker, or a melody), «ΩΡΑ ΑΡΧΗΣ» (start time) and «ΗΜΕΡΕΣ» (days: 1 = Monday … 7 = Sunday). For the hour striker you also see «ΩΡΑ ΤΕΛΟΥΣ» (end time).
- With + and − you move to the other schedules of the same type.
- When you have finished, press ESC as many times as needed, until you see the time and «ΚΩΔ:» again.
To see another type, go back with ESC and choose it. «ΗΜΕΡΕΣ:1234567» means every day. At the top right of the screen you see «Ε» (weekly), «Ρ» (periodic) or «Χ» (exceptional).
⚠ Do not press ↵ (ENTER) on a schedule if you only want to look at it: «ΑΚΥΡΩΣΗ» (cancel) then appears next to L4, and if you press L4 the schedule is deleted.
New bell ringing in the schedule, every week
- On the home screen, at «ΚΩΔ:» (code), type the user code (a code is required — contact the company) and press ↵ (ENTER).
- Press L2 («ΠΡΟΓΡΑΜΜΑΤΙΣΜΟΣ», programming) and then L1 («ΕΙΣΑΓΩΓΩ ΠΡΟΓΡΑΜΜΑ», enter schedule).
- Press L1 («ΠΡΟΓΡ. ΕΒΔΟΜΑΔΙΑΙΟ», weekly schedule). You will see «ΚΙΝΟΥΜΕΝΕΣ / ΜΕΛΩΔΙΕΣ / ΛΕΙΤΟΥΡΓΙΕΣ» (swinging bells / melodies / functions).
- Press L2 («ΜΕΛΩΔΙΕΣ»). Type the melody number and press ↵ (ENTER). If you do not know it, press HELP for the list.
- At «ΩΡΑ ΑΡΧΗΣ» (start time), type the time it will ring (e.g. 07:30) and press ↵ (ENTER).
- At «ΔΙΑΡΚΕΙΑ» (duration), type how long it will last, in hours:minutes, seconds (e.g. 00:05,00 for 5 minutes), and press ↵ (ENTER).
- At «ΗΜΕΡΕΣ:» (days), type the day: 1 = Monday, 2 = Tuesday … 7 = Sunday, 0 = all, 8 = Monday–Friday, 9 = Monday–Saturday. Press ↵ (ENTER).
- Press ESC three times to go back to the home screen. Check the new schedule with “See what is scheduled”.
For more days, type their numbers one after the other (e.g. 3 and 7 for Wednesday and Sunday) and then check the schedule. For a schedule only in one period of the year or for one day, see the matching answers.
⚠ On the screen «ΚΙΝΟΥΜΕΝΕΣ / ΜΕΛΩΔΙΕΣ / ΛΕΙΤΟΥΡΓΙΕΣ» press only L2. The others are not explained in the user instructions.
Bell ringing for one period of the year only (e.g. summer)
- On the home screen, at «ΚΩΔ:» (code), type the user code (a code is required — contact the company) and press ↵ (ENTER).
- Press L2 («ΠΡΟΓΡΑΜΜΑΤΙΣΜΟΣ», programming), then L1 («ΕΙΣΑΓΩΓΩ ΠΡΟΓΡΑΜΜΑ», enter schedule) and then L2 («ΠΡΟΓΡ. ΠΕΡΙΟΔΙΚΟ», periodic schedule).
- Press L2 («ΜΕΛΩΔΙΕΣ», melodies), type the melody number and press ↵ (ENTER).
- Type the «ΩΡΑ ΑΡΧΗΣ» (start time) and press ↵ (ENTER). Then type the «ΔΙΑΡΚΕΙΑ» (duration; hours:minutes, seconds) and press ↵ (ENTER).
- At «ΗΜΕΡΕΣ:» (days), type the days (1 = Monday … 7 = Sunday, 0 = all) and press ↵ (ENTER).
- At «ΑΠΟ:» (from), type the first day of the period as day-month (e.g. 01-07) and press ↵ (ENTER).
- At «ΩΣ:» (to), type the last day (e.g. 31-08) and press ↵ (ENTER).
- Press ESC three times for the home screen.
The dates are typed without the year, so the periodic schedule plays again every year in the same period.
⚠ Lent and Easter change dates every year. If you set a periodic schedule for them, you must delete it every year and set it again with the new dates.
Bell ringing for one day only (feast day, Easter, patronal festival, wedding, funeral)
- On the home screen, at «ΚΩΔ:» (code), type the user code (a code is required — contact the company) and press ↵ (ENTER).
- Press L2 («ΠΡΟΓΡΑΜΜΑΤΙΣΜΟΣ», programming), then L1 («ΕΙΣΑΓΩΓΩ ΠΡΟΓΡΑΜΜΑ», enter schedule) and then L3 («ΠΡΟΓΡ. ΕΞΑΙΡΕΤΙΚΟ», exceptional schedule).
- Press L2 («ΜΕΛΩΔΙΕΣ», melodies), type the melody number (e.g. a festive peal, the Resurrection peal or a funeral toll) and press ↵ (ENTER).
- Type the «ΩΡΑ ΑΡΧΗΣ» (start time) and press ↵ (ENTER). Then the «ΔΙΑΡΚΕΙΑ» (duration; hours:minutes, seconds) and ↵ (ENTER).
- At «ΗΜΕΡΟΜ. ΕΚΤΕΛΕΣΗΣ» (date to play), type the date as day-month-year (e.g. 15-08-27) and press ↵ (ENTER).
- Press ESC three times for the home screen.
- Check it with “See what is scheduled”, choosing L3 (exceptional).
Days of the week are not asked for here. The exceptional schedule plays once, only on that date, and then deletes itself. Because Easter changes date, you set it again every year.
Change the melody or time of a bell ringing that is already scheduled
- Find the schedule you want to change (see “See what is scheduled”) and write down on paper its time, days and duration.
- Delete it (see “Delete a scheduled bell ringing”).
- Make a new schedule with the new melody or the new time (see “New bell ringing in the schedule”).
- Check with “See what is scheduled” that the new schedule is there and correct.
The SIRIO12 instructions have no option to “edit” a schedule; the change is made by deleting it and entering it again. If you want to change the melody on a key F1–F8, see “Change the melody or duration on a key F1–F8”.
Delete a scheduled bell ringing
- On the home screen, at «ΚΩΔ:» (code), type the user code (a code is required — contact the company) and press ↵ (ENTER).
- Press L2 («ΠΡΟΓΡΑΜΜΑΤΙΣΜΟΣ», programming) and then L2 («ΕΞΕΤ/ΔΙΑΓΡ.ΠΡΟΓΡΑΜΜΑ.», view/delete schedule).
- Choose the type: L1 for weekly, L2 for periodic, L3 for exceptional.
- With + and − find the schedule you want to delete. The screen shows what plays, the time and the days.
- Press ↵ (ENTER). The screen shows «ΗΜΕΡΕΣ: …» (days) and «ΑΚΥΡΩΣΗ» (cancel) next to L4.
- Press L4 («ΑΚΥΡΩΣΗ») and the schedule is deleted.
- Press ESC three times for the home screen.
⚠ The deletion happens at once, with no question to confirm, and cannot be undone. If you just want it not to ring for a while, use A1 instead.
Cancel the scheduled bell ringing with A1
- Press the A1 key once (bottom row, on the right, next to A2).
- The red light of A1 comes on and stays on: the scheduled bell ringing is cancelled.
- To make the schedule work again, press A1 again. The red light goes out.
The instructions do not make clear whether only the next bell ringing is cancelled, or all of them while the light is on. To stop a time for good, see “Delete a scheduled bell ringing”. The hourly strikes are switched off with A2.
⚠ Do not forget to press it again. While the red light of A1 is on, the schedule does not work normally.
Hourly strikes: from what time to what time the hour striker rings (silent at night)
- On the home screen, at «ΚΩΔ:» (code), type the user code (a code is required — contact the company) and press ↵ (ENTER).
- Press L2 («ΠΡΟΓΡΑΜΜΑΤΙΣΜΟΣ», programming), then L1 («ΕΙΣΑΓΩΓΩ ΠΡΟΓΡΑΜΜΑ», enter schedule) and then L1 («ΠΡΟΓΡ. ΕΒΔΟΜΑΔΙΑΙΟ», weekly schedule).
- On the screen «ΚΙΝΟΥΜΕΝΕΣ / ΜΕΛΩΔΙΕΣ / ΛΕΙΤΟΥΡΓΙΕΣ» (swinging bells / melodies / functions), press L4 (→) twice. You will see «ΚΤΥΠΗΤΗΣ ΩΡΩΝ / ΥΠΗΡΕΣΙΕΣ» (hour striker / services).
- Press L1 («ΚΤΥΠΗΤΗΣ ΩΡΩΝ»). Type the number 1 and press ↵ (ENTER).
- At «ΩΡΑ ΑΡΧΗΣ» (start time), type from what time it will strike (e.g. 07:00) and press ↵ (ENTER).
- At «ΔΙΑΡΚΕΙΑ» (duration), always type 00:00,00 and press ↵ (ENTER).
- At «ΩΡΑ ΤΕΛΟΥΣ» (end time), type until what time (e.g. 22:00) and press ↵ (ENTER).
- At «ΗΜΕΡΕΣ:» (days), type the days (0 = all) and press ↵ (ENTER). Then press ESC three times.
The hours strike only from the start time to the end time; this way they do not strike at night. To change the hours of an hour striker that already exists, first delete the old one (see “Delete a scheduled bell ringing”) and then set the new one. To silence all the hourly strikes for a while, use A2. How the hour is struck (e.g. half hour) is set by the technician.
Switch the hourly strikes off and on (key A2)
- Press the A2 key once (bottom row, last on the right).
- The red light of A2 comes on and stays on. The hours do not strike.
- To make the hours strike again, press A2 again. The light goes out.
⚠ If the hour does not strike and A2 has its red light on, just press it once.
Where to find the melody list and the melody numbers
- The «ΚΑΤΑΛΟΓΟΣ ΜΕΛΩΔΙΩΝ» (melody list) is at the end of the instruction booklet («ΜΕΛΩΔΙΕΣ SIRIO12», SIRIO12 melodies): 99 positions, with the number, the name and how many bells each melody needs.
- On the controller, on any screen that asks for a number at «ΜΕΛΩΔΙΕΣ» (melodies), press HELP. The list is shown four melodies at a time.
- Scroll with + and −. The number in front of each name is the one you type.
- On the screen the names are in Latin letters, e.g. «1-PENUIMO» = funeral toll, «20-ALARMA» = alarm, «21-DOXOLOG.» = Doxology, «22-ESPERIN.» = Vespers. The number at the end of the line is the number of bells.
- Which melody each key F1–F8 has is written on the page «ΜΕΛΩΔΙΕΣ SIRIO12 / F1 … F8» of the booklet or on the sheet the company gave you.
Basic list (in brackets, how many bells): 1 Funeral toll (1), 2 Funeral toll 2 (1), 3 Funeral toll 3 (1), 4 Funeral toll 4 (1), 5 Funeral toll (1), 6 Funeral toll (2), 7 Funeral toll (4), 8 Funeral toll (5), 9 Funeral toll 2 (5), 10 Funeral toll 3 (5), 11 Funeral toll (6), 12 Funeral toll 2 (6), 13–16 empty, 17 Vespers (1), 18 Catechism (1), 19 Single bell (1), 20 Alarm (2), 21 Doxology (2), 22 Vespers A (2), 23 Vespers B (2), 24 Vespers (1), 25 Ag. Note: in some churches the list has been changed (e.g. positions 1–11 hold hymns of the church, or the church’s own melody has been recorded in the empty positions). The name on the church’s F1–F8 sheet may also differ from the list. The number («Ν.», no.) and the list the company gave you always apply.
Change the melody or duration on a key F1–F8 (permanently)
- On the home screen, at «ΚΩΔ:» (code), type the settings code, which is different from the user code (a code is required — contact the company), and press ↵ (ENTER). You will see «FORMAT EEPROM / ΠΛΗΚΤΡΑ ΛΕΙΤΟΥΡΓ. Fx / ΔΙΑΜΟΡΦ. ΔΕΥΤ. ΡΟΛΟΓ.» (format memory / Fx function keys / secondary clock setup).
- Press L2 («ΠΛΗΚΤΡΑ ΛΕΙΤΟΥΡΓ. Fx»). The screen shows «F1 PLIKTRO Fx 1» (key F1), its melody and its duration.
- With + and − go to the F key you want to change and press ↵ (ENTER).
- You will see «ΑΠΕΝΕΡΓΟΠΟΙΗΣΗ / ΚΙΝΟΥΜΕΝΕΣ / ΜΕΛΩΔΙΕΣ» (deactivate / swinging bells / melodies). Press L3 («ΜΕΛΩΔΙΕΣ»).
- Type the number of the new melody and press ↵ (ENTER). With HELP you see the list.
- Type the «ΔΙΑΡΚΕΙΑ» (duration; hours:minutes, seconds) and press ↵ (ENTER).
- Press ESC three times for the home screen. Try the F key and write the new melody on the sheet «ΜΕΛΩΔΙΕΣ SIRIO12» (SIRIO12 melodies).
For the duration only: do the same steps and type the same melody number again with the new duration. If you only want to see what each key has, do steps 1–2, scroll with + and −, and leave with ESC without pressing ↵ (ENTER).
⚠ This is a settings menu. Never press L1 «FORMAT EEPROM», do not press L1 «ΑΠΕΝΕΡΓΟΠΟΙΗΣΗ» (deactivate) and do not change anything else here. If you are not sure, call the company.
Record your own melody (special melody)
- On the home screen, at «ΚΩΔ:» (code), type the user code (a code is required — contact the company) and press ↵ (ENTER).
- Press L4 (→). You will see «ΠΑΥΣΗ ΕΚΤ. ΜΕΛΩΔΙΩΝ / ΠΑΥΣΗ ΜΕΛ. + ΚΤΥΠ. ΩΡ / ΕΓΓΡΑΦΗ ΕΙΔ. ΜΕΛΩΔΙΑΣ» (pause melodies / pause melodies + hour strikes / record special melody).
- Press L3 («ΕΓΓΡΑΦΗ ΕΙΔ. ΜΕΛΩΔΙΑΣ») and then L3 («ΜΕΛΩΔΙΕΣ», melodies).
- At «ΕΓΓΡΑΦΗ ΜΕΛΩΔΙΕΣ Ν.:» (record melody no.), type an empty position, from 13 to 16, and press ↵ (ENTER).
- Type a name: with + and − you choose a letter and press ↵ (ENTER), as many times as needed, until the screen changes.
- On the screen «ΕΛΕΥΘ. Bytes … L4 ΓΙΑ ΕΚΚΙΝΗΣΗ» (free bytes … L4 to start), press L4 and play the melody with the keys with the palm symbol. The time counts on the screen.
- When you have finished, press ESC. At «ΣΤΗΝ ΜΝΗΜΗ [1=ΝΑΙ]» (save to memory? 1 = yes), press 1 and ↵ (ENTER) to save it; if you do not want it, press ESC.
- Press ESC once for the home screen.
The melody goes into the number you chose (e.g. 13). During recording the screen says «sec. func = ΠΡΟΣΩΡ. ΣΤΟΠ» (sec. func = temporary stop): the «sec. func.» key makes a temporary stop.
⚠ Before you record, check with HELP that the position really is empty: in some churches the company has already put a melody in a position 13–16. If you record into a position that has a melody (1–99), the old one is erased for good.
Melody speed (slower or faster)
- On the home screen, at «ΚΩΔ:» (code), type the settings code (a code is required — contact the company) and press ↵ (ENTER). You will see «FORMAT EEPROM / ΠΛΗΚΤΡΑ ΛΕΙΤΟΥΡΓ. Fx / ΔΙΑΜΟΡΦ. ΔΕΥΤ. ΡΟΛΟΓ.» (format memory / Fx function keys / secondary clock setup).
- Press L4 (→). You will see «ΔΙΑΜΟΡΦ.
- You will see «ΠΕΝΘΙΜΟ / ΕΙΔ.ΜΕΛΩΔ / ΜΕΛΩΔΙΕΣ» (funeral toll / special melody / melodies). Press L3 («ΜΕΛΩΔΙΕΣ»).
- With + and − find the melody. The screen shows its name and «ΤΑΧΥΤ.: 6» (speed). Press ↵ (ENTER).
- Type a new speed from 0 (slower) to 9 (faster) and press ↵ (ENTER).
- Press ESC four times for the home screen.
All melodies come with speed 6.
⚠ This is a settings menu. Never press L1 «FORMAT EEPROM», and do not change «Ν. ΗΛ/ΣΦ» (hammer no.), «ΔΙΑΜΟΡΦ. ΚΤΥΠ ΩΡΩΝ» (hour striker setup) or «ΕΙΣΑΓΩΓΗ ΗΛ/ΣΦΥΡΙΩΝ» (electric hammer entry); they are for the technician.
The code («ΚΩΔ:») and how to go back
- The home screen says «ΚΩΔ: ....» (code). To get into programming, you type the user code and press ↵ (ENTER) (a code is required — contact the company).
- To change the melody on an F key and for the melody speed, you need a second code, the settings code (a code is required — contact the company).
- Without a code, from the home screen you can press F1–F8, the keys with the palm symbol, STOP, A1 and A2.
- If you type a wrong number, the ← key deletes one character at a time.
- ESC stops whatever you are doing halfway and takes you back. Press it as many times as needed to reach the home screen.
If you have forgotten the code or do not have it, contact the company. Press the keys only with your finger, never with a pen or a screwdriver.
Power cut
- The SIRIO12 is not affected by power cuts. The melodies and the schedules are not lost.
- When the power comes back, check on the home screen whether the time and the date are correct. If not, see “Change the time”.
- Also look at the hands of the bell tower clock. If they show the wrong time, see “Correct the time on the bell tower clock”.
- If the screen stays dark after the power has come back, or if the controller does not respond, do not open the box. Contact the company.
According to the technical data, the controller’s clock is kept going by a battery for up to 30 days without power. It also has lightning protection.
⚠ There is 220V electricity inside the box. Never open it yourself.
It does not ring, or something is not working right
- The automatic schedules do not ring: see if the red light of A1 is on. If it is, press A1 once to switch it off.
- The hours do not strike: look at the red light of A2. If it is on, press A2 once.
- It rings at the wrong time or on the wrong day: check the day, the date and the time on the home screen (see “Change the time”) and then the schedule (see “See what is scheduled”).
- The outside clock shows the wrong time: see “Correct the time on the bell tower clock”.
- The hammer does not strike right after a swinging bell: this is normal. While the bell is moving, the controller blocks its hammer; wait a little.
- You got lost in the menus: press ESC a few times until you reach the home screen.
- The melody does not stop: hold down STOP for 2–3 seconds.
- The screen is dark, there is a smell or a noise, or none of the above helped: do not open the box, and contact the company.
Maintenance: oiling the electric hammers
- Every 3 to 4 months, oil the plungers of the electric hammers with a little machine oil.
- Before any maintenance, switch off the power to the controller, so that no hammer or bell strikes while you are close by.
- Afterwards switch the power back on and check on the home screen that the time is correct.
⚠ Do not open the SIRIO12 box (there is 220V electricity). If climbing up the bell tower is not safe, call the company.
Remote control (optional)
- The remote control (if you have one) is white, with an antenna and eight numbered buttons 1–8.
- Seven of the buttons each start one melody, and one button does STOP.
- Press the button of the melody you want; the bells start.
- To stop them, press the STOP button.
- It works from a long distance (about 150 metres), when there are no obstacles between you and the controller. If it does not work, move closer.
Which button plays which melody, and which one is STOP, is set by the company at installation. If you do not have it written down, ask the company.
Control from a mobile phone over Wi-Fi (optional)
This setting is done by our technician.
If the church asked for it, the SIRIO12 may have a Wi-Fi connection. With it you can start up to 7 melodies from a mobile phone (Android or iPhone) and STOP them. The company sets up the connection and the app; the instructions have no steps for using the app.
Volume or strength of the strike
This setting is done by our technician.
The SIRIO12 strikes real bells with electric hammers or motors and has no speakers. The user instructions have no volume setting. The strength of the strike depends on the installation and is set by the technician.
Restart / the controller is “stuck”
This setting is done by our technician.
The user instructions do not describe a restart. If you just got lost in a menu, press ESC a few times to go back to the home screen. If the controller does not respond, do not open it and do not try key combinations; only a company technician can reset it.
Technician settings (wiring, hammers, motors, clocks)
This setting is done by our technician.
The wiring (bells, bell tower clock, town clocks, radio time receiver, fuse), the settings of the hammers and of the swinging bells, the way the hours strike, the secondary clocks and the codes are handled only by the company’s technician.
